What time of day does car insurance start?
Usually, unless stated otherwise, your car insurance will be valid from 00:00 on the start date. For example, if your start date is January 1st, it will be 12am on the same day.
Can I drive a van on my car insurance?
In short, No. There may be times when you need to drive a van, such as moving home or picking up your latest Marketplace find. As with most questions regarding your car insurance, the answer can be found in your policy documents. If you are still unsure, then it’s worth double-checking to make sure.
Does insurance go down after I’m 25?
Yes and no. Usually, people over 25 could see a drop in their premiums. When comparing a 25-year-old’s premium to an 18-year-old’s, you will likely notice a huge decrease in the cost. As we all know, younger drivers pose a greater risk and will face higher car insurance costs. The more experience a driver has, the more likely their premiums will be reduced over time.
What does “declined” car insurance mean?
Sometimes known as “voided,” “cancelled,” or “refused,” there are many reasons that insurance can be declined. Usually, it is due to fraud, non-disclosure, or non-payment, and this can be seen as a risk to other insurers. Having been declined car insurance doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t get insurance, it just means that you may find it a bit difficult and expensive. Are automatic cars more expensive to insure?

What is car insurance excess?
The excess on your car insurance policy is the amount you will need to contribute should you need to make a claim.
It’s also worth noting that your excess comprises of two parts: compulsory and voluntary. Both are agreed upon at the time of purchase. The compulsory excess is set by your insurer, while the voluntary excess is chosen by you. The higher the voluntary excess, the lower the premium, but bear in mind that you could end up paying more than you saved, should you make a claim.
Can you park a car on the road without insurance?
No. If your car is on the road then it must be insured.

When do you pay excess?
You only have to pay the excess if you make a claim. It’s your contribution towards the total cost of your claim.
